There's a fond little shake of Anya's head and she shoots off a text to her beloved mama before turning her attention back to Jade, arms full of snacks and all.]

Mama will be out tonight - but she said she doesn't mind company! In fact, she says that she restocked the fridge with even more snacks for us since she knew you were coming over? [A brief little giggle. Anya loves her mother.] We can give her the cookies when she's back in the morning.

[ it shouldn't be too late when they all get back from the planetarium, actually. dave drove, and he and rose drop jade off at her place before heading home. dave, however, slides out of the car (tagging rose in as driver, but) to walk jade to her doorstep. the day has probably been universally awkward in some degrees because he's been a wreck since before they picked jade up and while he's good at pretending to be calm a lot of the time he's been...distracted? that's probably a good word. he's got two phone charms now, saturn and uranus, and someday maybe they'll all three go back and he'll acquire mars. so at least the day wasn't a complete bust.

even if dave's stomach has been in knots and he's been alternately quiet or too chatty about absolutely nothing and he's hyperfocused on rose just to keep himself steady, while his sister responded by spending more time with jade to force him to split his attention. his sister is a traitor.

and shit, he's been thinking about this for a week but he still doesn't know the best way to do it. dirk offered to deliver the damn thing, but dave thinks that's probably, you know, not the best idea, so before he like says goodbye entirely he stops jade with a hand to her arm, a light tap. ]

By the way, Wolf, got a mix for you. [ this isn't actually unusual. he's given her cds and cassette tapes and simple compilations of files over some chat client before. so when dave digs a cassette tape out of his pocket, plastic case included, and slides it into Jade's hands, there's literally nothing to indicate that it Matters.

[ jade waits until she hears the door to their apartment open; a telltale sign that her father is home from a long work day. tonight, thankfully, is one of the rare evenings he's done earlier than usual and capable of coming home when jade and elizabeth are awake. from her bedroom, she can hear the sounds of her family and she decides that even if it's literally been almost fifteen hours since the Episode with dave, she needs to tell her parents. she's definitely broken their trust once this month, so she figures she might as well be on her best behavior.

she just might have to bend the truth a little? when she texted elizabeth to tell her she'd be back from picking up her charms from the striders, it hadn't been charms she was picking up, though. she is gaining experience with white lies... to her mother. her father interrogates people for a living, though.

time to test those nerves of steel, wolf.

so jade puts her phone down, leaving it on her bed, to go join her parents, wherever they may be. ]

When Jade arrives at class, her gift is already waiting for her at her desk. You'll find a little pouch filled with heart-shaped macarons, about 6 or 7. There's a neat little card written in Anya's neat and short hand-writing:]

[ Because his love for surprises outweighs his survival instinct, Yato breaks into the Wolf apartment yet again. But because Yato is not completely stupid, he only breaks into Jade's room.

Sometime in the day, Jade will find a little white box on her desk with a simple gift tag stating "From: Yato". Inside, she'll find three pretty little truffles of the same flavor: dark chocolate rosewater. If anyone is strangely meticulous enough to look at the bottom of one, they'll find a little three-pointed crown stamped into the chocolate. Otherwise, there's no real indicator that Yato made these himself; the taste and presentation is decidedly professional gourmet. ]
